BATMAN - The West Years Part One: “The Caped Crusader” (1/2)
Breaking Scifi News
Most modern comic book fans equate Adam West with the Batman TV series from the sixties and the feature length movie that accompanied it. This has resulted in many people dismissing his performance as an invalid representation of the comics.
What many people don’t realise is that Adam West played Batman in numerous productions right up until Michael Keaton took over in the late eighties. His tenure spanned three decades, during which time he gradually modified his performance in order to stay relevant to the evolution of the comics.
Some of these productions have never been repeated or given home releases; some have never been shown outside of North America. Consequently they have become forgotten relics of Batman’s history.
The purpose of this program is to provide a comprehensive overview of every Batman production starring Adam West, viewing them critically in relation to what was happening in the Batman comics at the time of their productions. Hopefully the results will furnish young fans with a new appreciation for the actor whose devotion and commitment to the role has yet to be surpassed.
